美国农业部冬大麦公告

11-23-2010

Below is a statement from Genencor’s Research Fellow Jay Shetty, PhD, about the company’s collaboration with USDA and Virginia-based Osage Bio Energy in light of today’s biofuel update from USDA Secretary Vilsack.  Genencor developed an enzyme used in the manufacture of an advanced biofuel made from winter barley to be produced at Osage’s new refinery built in Hopewell, Va.,—the first of its kind ethanol manufacturing facility.

“Genencor is proud to have been a part of a five-year collaboration with USDA and Osage Bio Energy that has led to the first commercial-scale, barley-based ethanol plant in the U.S. Together at our Beloit, Wisconsin facility, our collaboration yielded an enzyme that helps make the production of ethanol from winter barley both technically possible and economically viable. This is a great example of an innovative public/private partnership that puts us one step closer to reaching our domestic biofuel production goals while providing valuable agricultural, manufacturing and support jobs.”
